Report page content

The Report Page Content settings provide administrators with granular control over the information included in the Portfolio of Evidence report. Their strategic importance lies in the ability to precisely customize the final output, tailoring it to meet specific compliance, assessment, or archival needs. By understanding and configuring these options, you can strategically shape the report’s purpose—from a comprehensive portfolio containing all course content for archival or accreditation, to a concise transcript summarizing student achievement.

The data flow follows a direct path: these settings control the information rendered on-screen during report generation. This on-screen view is then compiled directly into the Report page PDF, which is finally included in the downloadable ZIP Archive (if enabled).

It is important to note that the behavior of certain settings can vary depending on whether a ‘Curriculum’ or ‘Transcript’ report is being generated. This guide will clarify those differences to ensure your configuration produces the expected results for each report type.

Locating the Report Page Content Settings #

This section provides the direct navigation path to access and modify the report page content configuration options within the administrative dashboard.

To find these settings, navigate to the following location:

Admin Menu → Settings → Portfolio of Evidence → Settings (tab)

Detailed Configuration Options #

This section provides a detailed breakdown of each available setting. A clear understanding of these options is key to tailoring the Portfolio of Evidence report to display the exact level of detail and focus required for your audience.

Report Creator Details #

This setting controls the inclusion of metadata about the report’s creation, adding a layer of accountability and context to the document.

  • Purpose: Includes the name, contact information, and the date the report was generated.
  • Default State: ON.
  • Impact: Adds a crucial audit trail to the report by including creator and generation date, essential for tracking and attribution.

Course Sections #

This option governs the structural organization of the report, allowing it to mirror the layout of the source course in LearnDash.

  • Purpose: Adds course section headings to the report.
  • Definition: A “course section” is a heading used within LearnDash to divide course content into meaningful parts.
  • Default State: ON.
  • Impact: Improves the report’s structure and readability by mirroring the course layout, making it easier to navigate and correlate evidence within long documents.

Page Content by Type #

This group of settings allows you to control the inclusion of full page content for the primary LearnDash page types. By default, all options are turned ON. However, you must understand one critical rule before changing them:

Important: Titles and essential metadata for all page types are always included in the report, regardless of whether their corresponding checkbox is selected.

  • Course Page Content: When checked, the full content from the main course page is included in the report.
  • Lesson Page Content: When checked, the full content from lesson pages is included.
  • Topic Page Content: When checked, the full content from topic pages is included.
  • Quiz Page Content: When checked, the full content from the quiz page is included. Even if this box is unchecked, quiz titles, completion dates, and scores will always be displayed.

This group of settings is your primary tool for converting a report from a comprehensive archive into a focused summary. By deselecting page content, you can significantly shorten the final PDF while guaranteeing that essential metadata like completion dates and scores remains, as per the persistent metadata rule.

Quiz Questions #

This setting, which is ON by default, specifically controls whether the actual questions from quizzes are displayed within the report. The output of this setting is entirely dependent on whether a ‘Curriculum’ or ‘Transcript’ report is being generated.

The table below contrasts the output for each report type.

Report TypeDisplayed Quiz Content
CurriculumShows all questions along with their correct answer patterns.
TranscriptShows the student’s answers, their scores/points earned, and Correct / Incorrect Answer Marks.

Note: The Quiz Statistics option must be ON (default) per quiz to display student answers; otherwise answers are omitted.

This distinction is critical for generating reports that are appropriate for different audiences, such as an internal curriculum review versus a student’s official record of achievement.

Summary of Key Principles #

This final section summarizes the most critical rules and concepts an administrator must remember when configuring the report page content. Keeping these principles in mind will help you achieve your desired output efficiently.

  1. Defaults are Comprehensive All content settings are enabled (ON) by default. This ensures that, without any changes, the system produces the most detailed and complete report possible. You can then selectively disable options to create a more focused or summarized document.
  2. Metadata is Persistent Page titles and essential metadata are always included in the report. This critical rule means that even when you turn off the “full content” setting for a page type like a quiz, fundamental data such as the quiz title, completion date, and final score will still be present.
  3. Report Type Dictates Quiz Display The ‘Quiz Questions’ setting has two distinct behaviors. The content it displays—either a master list of questions with correct answers or a record of a student’s specific answers and scores—is fundamentally determined by whether a ‘Curriculum’ or ‘Transcript’ report is chosen at the time of generation.
